Sharpening the axe

"If I had six hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend four hours sharpening the axe..." - Abraham Lincoln

Wow!! What a thought to take all your time preparing for that moment to attack your goal. It's not just about making sure every swing with the axe cuts the deepest but that it takes less swings to chop that tree down.

We are a lazy generation and I know myself I spend a lot of time thinking about the things I have to do. But by doing this I find it takes me much less time to do my tasks and I mostly only have to do them once. Preparation is so important and perfecting your skill and knowing it is key in success.

Attention to details is a must in anything. Why does a basketball player spend so much time practicing free throws? Sure they can prefect the 3 pointer but they know when the time comes a game is won by points on the board and every single free throw brings them closer to that goal.
I use to think it all just happens and things work out, they do but because I'm prepared and take the time to sharpen my skills and layout my plans. Each move I make has a greater impact because of my actions and gives me the chance to complete my goals faster.

I hope we all take the time to sharpen the axe and plan our attack before we just jump in.
How many trees are planning on chopping down this coming year? I know I have a few extra big ones I have my eye on.
